How to Plan Your Course with AI

Resource for

All Channels

Before you jump into filming your course, you’re going to want to have a plan. You might have a good idea of the topics and activities that you want to include in your course, but why would you need to plan any further than that?

The simple answer is – having the basic structure of your course already in place will set you up for success when it comes to filming your course and creating your content. Plus, at Steppit we offer a unique way of teaching online, using a step-by-step approach. So having a plan will help you understand the structure of our course builder and help you adapt to step-by-step learning with ease.

Plan your course with your personal AI assistant (available with Steppit Pro)

With a Steppit Pro subscription or free trial, you can generate fully personalized course plans.

When you train your personal AI assistant on five key traits (your skillset, tone of voice, audience, values and context), it will use its rich understanding of what makes you unique to enhance the course outline and insights it generates.

What do you get when you plan with our AI tool?

  • Your course unit structure – A list of broad topics your course could include
  • What guided sessions to cover – The individual topics or activities you can guide your learners through with each unit.
  • A course price suggestion
  • Estimated revenue per month
  • Marketing insights information on your course subject
  • A bespoke summary condensing all the key elements of your course subject, structure and insights.

How to generate Pro course plans

  1. If you haven’t already, train up your personal AI assistant so it all clued up on your preferences. To check if it’s trained, go to the Assistant section and see if the progress wheel around each trait is full.

  2. Go to Content > Build a Full Course > Generate a Pro Plan

  3. Answer each of your personal assistant’s questions to cover these points:

    1. What your course is about
    2. What your target audience is
    3. What takeaways and skills you want people to learn
    4. What specific topics you want to include
    5. Anything you specifically don’t want to include
    6. Whether your course will mainly focus on theory or practical elements (will you be explaining concepts, or will you want people to complete an activity?)
    7. What your learners should already know or have access to when they enroll
    8. How much time your course will take each week, and how many weeks long it will take
    9. Anything else you want them to consider
  4. Hit ‘Generate’ and wait for the good stuff!

  5. Once generated, read through all the juicy insights and click ‘Build Course’ to populate your plan into your course builder.

Your next step – planning the sessions you’ll teach. With a solid plan for what you want to cover in each session you teach, you’ll be all set up and ready to start filming your course.
